GOODS INSURANCE

NECE Logistics insures shipments according to the specifics of the transport and applicable legislation. We also advise clients on the best insurance solutions.

Please note that under international freight transport conventions, the liability of the forwarder and/or carrier is limited. This means that in the event of loss or damage to goods, the standard carrier’s liability does not cover the full value of the goods, but only the compensation rate determined by law.

For example:

According to the CMR Convention, the liability for road transport is 8.33 SDR per kilogram of goods. If goods weighing 17 kg (e.g. 100 mobile phones worth €20,000) are lost, the carrier will only cover the loss up to 17 kg × 8.33 SDR ≈ €168.3.

We recommend that valuable goods are always fully insured

Liability rates by mode of transport:

Road transport: 8.33 SDR/kg

Sea transport: 2 SDR/kg

Air transport: 19 SDR/kg

1 SDR ≈ €1.19 (the exact value can be found on the IMF website)
